TRAUMA THERAPY IN TYSONS, VA.
Access a safe and compassionate place to face your past so it doesn’t define your future.
Trauma can affect anyone, regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, or socioeconomic status.
Whether it stems from accidents, violence, natural disasters, war/combat, or from prolonged stress such as serious health conditions or family issues, the impact can be profound. Even those indirectly involved such as first responders and family members can feel its effects. Making sense of traumatic experiences can be extremely difficult, and many people get stuck in their recovery process.
Trauma does not discriminate.

Our therapists use a range of evidence-based treatments for trauma and PTSD. Many of these approaches are structured and goal-focused, and some include practice between sessions to help you apply what you are learning in everyday life. Your therapist will work with you to determine which approach best fits your symptoms, experiences, age, and treatment goals.
Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) helps you identify and examine thoughts and beliefs that may have developed after a traumatic experience. By learning to evaluate these patterns in new ways, CPT can reduce trauma-related distress and help you develop a more balanced understanding of yourself, others, and what happened.
Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE) helps you gradually approach trauma-related memories, emotions, situations, and other reminders that you may have been avoiding. Over time, this process can reduce fear and avoidance and help the traumatic experience feel more like something that happened in the past rather than something that is still happening now.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a structured trauma therapy that helps the brain process distressing memories and experiences that may continue to feel emotionally overwhelming. EMDR uses bilateral stimulation while working with traumatic memories, thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations to reduce distress and support more adaptive processing.
Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) is an evidence-based treatment designed primarily for children and adolescents who have experienced trauma. TF-CBT combines coping and emotion-regulation skills, gradual trauma processing, cognitive strategies, and caregiver involvement to help young people recover while strengthening family support.
Written Exposure Therapy (WET) is a brief, structured treatment that uses guided writing about a traumatic experience. Repeatedly approaching the memory in a safe and supported way can reduce avoidance and emotional distress associated with the trauma.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) helps you develop greater psychological flexibility by learning how to make room for difficult thoughts, emotions, and memories while continuing to move toward the relationships, activities, and values that matter to you.
